Raiders ready for Round 2

The Raiders soccer team kicked off the state playoffs in winning fashion last Friday night, as they picked up a 3-2 win on the road against Rome.  “Anytime you pick up a round one win in the playoffs it’s awesome,” Raiders head coach Ric Wallace said.

Tallulah Falls makes history with first state playoff berth

After just four region wins in the previous four years – with only one game played last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic – Tallulah Falls School’s baseball team made several historic achievements for its program this year.

Peevy’s contract extended

The Tallulah Falls School Board of Trustees voted unanimously on April 21 to provide a five-year extension to the contract of President and Head of School Dr. Larry A. Peevy.

The Habersham Rotary Club presented Habersham County seniors with scholarships for their academic success during an April 22 event held at the Cornelia Community House.

Pfizer still at mass vax site until Friday

After saying last week would be the end of the initial shots at the mass vaccination site in Clarkesville, Pfizer vaccines were extended through Friday, April 30, allowing for three weeks until the site closes May 21 for patients to get their second shot.

New bilingual coordinators help meet students’ needs

In order to improve parent engagement and promote student achievement, Habersham County Schools are focusing on bringing more Parent Involvement Coordinators (PICs) on board across all 14 schools.

Knock on wood - Woodworking more than a hobby for local man

Anyone standing on the front porch of Warren Hencely’s Mount Airy home can smell it in the air: The crisp, natural fragrance of wood, maybe oak or maple, that had probably just been sawed into pieces or sanded smooth moments prior.

TFS golfers add another mark in record books

Tallulah Falls’ girls golf team turned in a phenomenal showing at The Warriors Spring Swing on Saturday, finishing seventh in the 28-team field.  Brinson Hall had a record-breaking day to lead the team, resetting TFS’ nine-hole record with a 34 and the 18-hole record with a 72.

Zavala keeps family legacy alive

When the final horn sounded signaling the end of Raider senior Angel Zavala’s final game in Raider Stadium, it signaled the end of an era in the Raider men’s soccer program.
