Coronavirus revving up street racers

From the normally busy city streets of Atlanta turned mostly vacant to the rural roads along North Georgia, the novel coronavirus has led some to see the emptiness as a speedway.  In Atlanta, residents have seen bigger and more frequent street racing events during the pandemic.

Raiders stage improbable rally from 28 down, make playoffs

   People are tired of unprecedented things in 2020. Honestly, most folks would rather have normal stuff happen for a while.    But just for fun and in the spirit of the year, Habersham Central’s football did something no one has ever seen in these parts.

   After a GBI investigation into allegations of excessive use of force by the Baldwin Police Department, District Attorney George Christian said no charges would be filed.     “Rather, the GBI was asked to look at two officers’ conduct surrounding the three different arrest.

Tallulah Falls fills 194 boxes for Christmas

   The Tallulah Falls School family once again stepped up to support Operation Christmas Child, sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse.    Through this initiative, TFS has the opportunity to reach out to needy children around the world.

Raiders show well in opening basketball scrimmages

   In their first live action of the 2020-21 season, the Lady Raiders basketball team slid past Fannin County in a scrimmage on Nov. 12 to earn a 45-41 victory.     “I thought it went well for our first time out,” said Lady Raiders head coach Bill Bradley.

WoodmenLife raising funds for fire equipment

   For the next 33 days, WoodmenLife has partnered with the Cornelia Fire Department with the goal of helping them raise $7,300 for a new life raft and other electronic equipment used for training.
