   If all goes well, the city of Cornelia will have its very own ’20s style Gatsby-themed speakeasy next year where the old Cornelia Bank once resided.    The building currently being redeveloped will now be home to Community Brew and Tap.

A year after failed referendum, Habersham County Jail remains in peril

   A year after the bond referendum for a new Habersham County jail failed, very little has changed.    “There is no way to remedy the issues we have until we get a new jail,” Sheriff Joey Terrell said. “The one we have does not meet current jail standards.

Repairs underway to internet servers

   If a global pandemic and ongoing 2020 headaches weren’t enough, The Northeast Georgian’s internet system failed in the early morning of last Friday morning, Nov. 6.    The Northeast Georgian relies on its parent company Community Newspapers, Inc. (CNI) servers located in Athens.
