Anderson enters District 10 House race

Former county commission chairman Victor Anderson announced Wednesday that he will try to keep the District 10 Georgia House seat in Habersham County.    Anderson will be running for the seat vacated by Georgia Rep. Terry Rogers (R-Clarkesville), who has been in office since 2011.

According to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, temperatures have not been as cool as climate averages since Dec. 1, 2019. With a warm winter this season, bee populations face the threat of starvation and also parasites.

The Clarkesville city council discussed cleaning some areas of the park after receiving damage from recent storms.     “The periphery of Pitts Park is a mess. The area along the river, we really can’t do that much,” said Mayor Barrie Aycock.

Just three days after his 18th birthday, Jimmy Waters of Clarkesville got in a car accident that would forever change his life.     He was sitting in the back seat of his friend’s truck during that foggy night drive, when they drove off the road struck a tree.

Harkness throws hat in the ring for county commissioner

Bruce Harkness announced Monday that he will run for the Habersham County Commission seat from District 4, currently occupied by Commissioner Natalie Crawford.    The two-time Demorest councilman is a local attorney and lifelong resident of Habersham County.

Habersham County’s Board of Commissioners extended a line of credit to Habersham Medical Center after their executive session concluded their nearly five-hour meeting Monday.

More than 50 residents stood up against a new wedding venue being developed in their neighborhood, and they gained the favor of the Habersham County Board of Commissioners, who voted Monday to deny permission for the new business to locate there.
