Diamond Raiders bid farewell to 10 seniors

Senior night for Habersham Central Baseball featured an offensive shootout as the Raiders (14-16, 7-11 Region 8-6A) dropped their final game of the season to the visiting Lanier Longhorns, 15-9. It was an emotional evening at Raider Park as the program bid farewell to 10 seniors.

Trimiar passes down Raider legacy

Bernard Trimiar makes no bones about it – Habersham runs through his blood. So when a young Trimiar first began donning Raider orange and blue, it was a natural fit. Even more fitting is Trimiar’s selection to the Habersham Central Football Ring of Honor Class of 2023.

A lot of smiling faces came back for the first time in four years, as Habersham County held the Special Olympics on Monday morning. The 2023 Special Olympics marked the 50th year of the Special Olympics in Habersham.

Demorest taps Musselwhite amid strife

It may have taken four months, but the city of Demorest now has a permanent city manager. Mark Musselwhite, Demorest interim city manager since Dec. 9, 2022, received the position permanently Monday night at a called meeting of Demorest city council.

County honors brilliant 4-year-old

You are never too old – or too young – to get involved in your local government. Habersham County recognized 4-year-old Chandler Franklin on Monday night after the young man noticed the flashing light on top of the commercial radio tower at Old Mill Road and Crane Mill Road was not working.

Hudson picked to lead Cornelia Elementary

Monday night’s Board of Education meeting brought lots of celebration for the county. Whether it be the winners of the Peach State Federal Credit Union monthly awards or it was the winners of the attendance awards, there was a sense of pride in the air.

Moree sets all-time TFS hits record

On his senior night, Frankey Moree had 2 hits to become the all-time leader in TFS history in a  12-2 home win over West Oak on Monday night. Moree and fellow senior Davante Brown combined for 3 hits and 3 RBI, as the Indians overcame an early 2-run deficit to score 12  unanswered.
