Don’t stress the dress

Prom season is almost underway, and for most students at Habersham Central High School, this is one night they’ve looked forward to since walking down the halls of the school. Despite the feelings of excitement felt by most, others are filled with dread.

FRC seeks to better quality of life for children

Georgia is ranked No. 38 for overall Child Well-Being in the U.S., according to the Annie E. Casey Foundation. The Family Resource Center of Northeast Georgia hopes to change that statistic with its diverse services.

Cross walk returns on Good Friday

Clarkesville First United Methodist Church (CFUMC) is looking forward to hosting its annual Cross Walk on Good Friday at 10 a.m. The Cross Walk is for Christians to remember the time Jesus Christ spent carrying the cross that held his crucifixion before being placed in a tomb.

Tour of Honor includes Wilbanks memorial

The 13th year of the “Tour of Honor” began this week, and it will bring many visitors to Habersham County over the next six months.

Youth honored for healthy, safe choices

Fifth grader Bella Hernandez of Fairview Elementary School was chosen as the Student of the Year after completion of the 12 week Choosing Healthy Activities and Methods Promoting Safety (C.H.A.M.P.S.) educational program for Georgia’s youth. The C.H.A.M.P.S.

Scout completes special project

When he isn’t reading a classic novel, 10th grader Jaron Horton can be found participating in all things relating to the Eagle Scout experience. Recently, Horton completed his Eagle Scout project, installing a handicapped two bay JennSwing with a wheelchair platform in the Town of Mt. Airy Park.

Demorest names finalists in manager odyssey

Demorest continued its search for a permanent city manager Wednesday night with a nearly two-hour executive session to discuss the latest pool of applicants, while their interim city manager sat in the other room conversing with citizens and staff.
