Truck tire crashes into donut shop

A dump truck lost two wheels Monday morning and damaged Cowboy Bob’s donut shop in Clarkesville. A Habersham County dump truck driven by Kennth Wade, 65, of Cornelia was traveling south on New Liberty Road in the southbound lane.

Chosewood, Hotard win region track titles

The Habersham Central Track and Field team traveled to Apalachee Monday to compete in the first day of the region meet, and the Raiders came home with two region champions. Audrey Hotard won the title in the 1,600 meters, while Brad Chosewood took home regional crowns in shot put and discus.

TFS girls are ‘Elite’

The Tallulah Falls girls tennis team advanced to the Georgia High School Association Elite 8 for the first time in program history as the Lady Indians defeated Galloway Monday afternoon. The 3-1 victory over the visiting Lady Scots was powered by two exciting doubles wins.

County hunting big game for grants

Habersham County grant writer Lauren Long made a presentation to the Board of Commissioners on Monday, and there was no stopping her desire to find funding to mitigate some of the county’s most pressing issues. “I think she is doing a fantastic job,” Chairman Ty Akins said.

News team at The Northeast Georgian dives into community

The Northeast Georgian has a full news team with three new reporters who are dedicated to telling the story of Habersham County. John Dills started as a news reporter in October 2022, and he has quickly immersed himself in the community with many major stories.

Habitat’s Women Build returns next week

For around 10 years, Habitat for Humanity of Northeast Georgia has been participating in an event called Women Build. This event was organized by Habitat for Humanity International, and is something regional hubs have picked up and participated in.
