Non-profits see some funding relief

Non-profit organizations are sometimes seen as the backbone of communities. Serving some of the most underprivileged groups, non-profits have the power to give those people access to resources they otherwise would not have been able to reach.

New year brings historic rainfall

Low weather wreaked havoc over the holidays, and following the start of the new year, Habersham County saw flash flood watches go into effect. Since Tuesday, the county has received 3.6 inches of rain. The average amount of precipitation for the entire month of January from 1991 to 2020 is 5.

Clyde part of pushback on vote for U.S. Speaker

Criser looks to merge university, community

The backdrop of the Demorest community helped bring Piedmont University its newest president. Piedmont University named Marshall Criser its new president in December, but it was fate that brought his much-traveled journey here.

Jenkins recognized for service to school system

Habersham County Schools said goodbye to a valuable member of their team at the end of 2022, as longtime administrative assistant Melinda Jenkins announced her retirement. “Melinda Jenkins has given 12 years to that little office,” Superintendent Matthew Cooper said.
