Boys & Girls Club celebrates one year

The Boys and Girls Club of Lanier celebrated its one-year anniversary on Tuesday. “The day is all about celebrating the one-year anniversary of this club,” said Joyce Wilson, the Chief Development Officer of the Boys and Girls Club of Lanier.

Educators gather for innovative Civil Rights program at Piedmont

Piedmont University’s Lillian E. Smith Center hosted “The Civil Rights Movement in Northeast Georgia,” a first-of-its-kind program for educators, June 13-17. Lillian E. Smith attended Piedmont for one year, 1915-16.

FAITH eyes Habersham facility

FAITH, a non-profit organization that seeks to reach victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse, is looking to expand its presence in the northeast Georgia region with the construction of a new facility, FAITH’S Power House.

Batesville zoning change denied

Batesville residents got a break Monday night from Habersham County’s Board of Commissioners, who decided in a 3-2 vote to deny a zoning change that would have brought a dense block of housing to an area off Ben Jones Road.
There were 11 Habersham County participants in The World Health Games earlier this month along with three others from the region. Habersham sends squad to World Heart Games

The ACSM World Heart Games spanned over two days and were a safe, fun, and relational competition for those who have experienced a cardiopulmonary event or live with risk factors. Created in 1990, the Georgia Association of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation began sponsoring the Heart of Gold Games.
