Roxy earns state award

Sgt. Eugene Kemp and K9 Roxy earned a second-place award at the Georgia Police and Fire Games in Gainesville for explosives detection. Roxy has worked with Kemp for six years and she is certified by the ATF and Homeland GEMA programs.

‘Led to Christ through him’

The man known to many as Northeast Georgia’s pastor is retiring. The Rev. Billy Burrell, 92, has been a fixture of WCON Radio for more than 60 years, and many grew up listening to his “Sunshine Melodies” program every weekday morning.

Woman of many names arrested in Clarkesville

A White County woman with a myriad of stolen licenses and financial cards was arrested by Clarkesville Police. Clarkesville Police stopped Kathy Lynn Cleghorn, 53, of Cleveland on June 22 near the intersection of Washington Street and Railroad Avenue.

Baldwin Police Chief Jeff Branyon stepped down from his position as head of his department after 11 months on the job, announcing his decision to resign at Monday’s regular city council meeting.

Tench set to speak his mind on issues

Habersham County Commissioner Jimmy Tench has often been the voice of dissent during his first term, and he is prepared to do the same for the next four years if needed. “Just like everybody else on there, I was elected by the people, for the people and of the people,” Tench said Monday.

Hospital ready to set $57M budget for ’23

Habersham Medical Center (HMC) moved forward in approving next year’s operating budget during its regular meeting Tuesday – a “break even” budget of revenue and expenses amounting to $57 million, according to Vice President and Health and Wellness Kesha Clinkscale.

Ministry sued for wrongful death

A local non-profit has been named in a wrongful death lawsuit filed in Habersham County Superior Court for negligent practices after the death of a Chatooga County man at one of its facilities. Tina G.

It all began with just one

Miles Through Time is a nonprofit “living” co-op-style automotive museum located inside Vintage Garage Antiques near the Old Clarkesville Mill. Before moving to Clarksville, the museum initially opened in Toccoa in 2017 with just one car – a 1959 Cadillac Coupe De Ville.
