Piedmont committee includes trustees only

Piedmont University’s Faculty Senate Executive Committee expressed dismay after Chairman of the Board of Trustees Gus Arrendale released a statement declaring that only members of the board itself will be part of the search committee tasked with selecting President James Mellichamp’s replacement.

Longtime teacher moving on to new challenges

After two generations of teaching young Raiders, Krista Ivester is hanging up her nametag. The science teacher, who has a combined 30 years in education, has taught 9th to 12th grade at Habersham Central High School since the 90’s in a variety of subjects. “I taught pretty much all sciences.

Summer reading program

Volunteers for Literacy (VFL) gave more than 500 books to children through their Summer Reading Program at Habersham County Schools’ Summer Meals Program on June 14.

Longtime Mason honored

On Monday evening, WB Larry Lynn, District Deputy to the Grand Master, presented WB Douglas “Pete” Raper with a Certificate of Achievement for 62.8 years as a Mason in Cornelia Masonic Lodge #92, F&AM. It came as a surprise to W. Brother Raper, and the Lodge gave him a round of applause.
