Department of Public Health provides outbreak updates

Fewer than 10 children in Georgia have been diagnosed with pediatric hepatitis, State Epidemiologist Cherie L. Drenzek said at the state Board of Public Health’s (DPH) monthly meeting Tuesday.
The pediatric hepatitis outbreak began in Alabama in October 2021.

Georgia mental health commission eyes reforms

Georgia is starting “the decade of mental health reforms” Kevin Tanner, chairman of the state’s Behavioral Health Reform and Innovation Commission, said this week.
The high-level commission, formed in 2019, developed long-range recommendations to address the state’s abysmal mental health outcomes.
