ARDEO nabs massive amount of heroin in Alto

   The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office and the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO) executed a Search Warrant at 215 Cornwall Place in Alto on Wednesday, resulting in the seizure of 160 grams of heroin.

   Baldwin Police Chief Charles Webb announced his resignation Monday to the city council following an executive session for the city of Baldwin.    Webb thought it was best for his health and family to leave the department under new leadership.

Head-on collision injures four

   A car accident on Sunday involving two vehicles sent all of the occupants, including a child to the hospital for treatment. The accident occurred at 11:43 a.m. on Georgia Highway 17 at the Georgia Highway 17 Connector in Habersham County.    According to a report by Sgt.

Jones tapped as next principal at Woodville Elementary

   Habersham County native Lana Jones was picked Monday night as the new principal at Woodville Elementary, starting July 1.    Jones will replace outgoing Principal Dr. Susan Davis, who is taking over the same role at Level Grove Elementary.

Commissioners: SPLOST will be divvied up by population

   As plans for the next seven years of Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax revenues progressed Monday, a majority of the Habersham County Board of Commissioners decided they prefer a straight population model to determine how much money each municipality receives.
