Habersham Medical Center picks Williams as next CEO

   Tyler Williams will take over as Chief Executive Officer of Habersham Medical Center beginning July 6, according to an announcement by the Hospital Authority of Habersham County on Tuesday.

Tornado rips through southern Habersham County

   Sunday into Monday was a long night for many in Habersham County, as a terrible windstorm rocked the region, including an F1 tornado that tore through the south end of the county, damaging trees, businesses and homes.

Doctor gives tips on proper mask usage

   The Northeast Georgian spoke with Dr Laura Heringer of Internal Medicine and Geriatrics at Habersham Medical Center to confirm some of the best practices with mask usage in public during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bethlehem Baptist helps create needed masks for pandemic

   When Janice Mangimelli heard of the need for covers to protect N95 respirators, she contacted her daughter-in-law Kelley Anne Mangimelli, an emergency RN at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center, to see if they needed help getting them.

More than 2,000 residents still without power this evening

   The violent storm last night in Habersham County – including a possible tornado touchdown – caused damage to trees and power lines, particularly in the southern end of the county.    More than 2,000 area residents – the majority in Habersham County – are still without power as of 5:30 p.m.

Habersham County Jail has rare drop in population

   While the Habersham County jail has been known to normally be overcrowded, probations and Own-Recognizance bonds have led to the jail population being down among other things to prevent any case of COVID-19 coming inside.

Habersham County couple builds crosses for community to foster 'faith, not fear'

   The cross is a symbol of sacrifice, salvation and hope. Lately, hundreds of simple wooden crosses, decorated by homeowners, have adorned yards and businesses in Northeast Georgia.    The crosses were made by Sandy and Jimmy Turner of Clarkesville.
