There’s no accountability

I was watching various channels looking for the World Series score the other day, but what got my undivided attention is the Attorney General’s questions/answers televised in D.C.
It’s been a long, strange journey over the last two years for the District 5 seat on the Habersham County Board of Commissioners.
First, Ed Nichols resigned, leaving a hole that had to be filled at the end of 2019.
The week of Sept. 20 was a doozie. Stumbling to my feet in the wee hours, I found myself pacing the front yard. I found myself leaning on the stop sign in our neighborhood at 3 a.m., wondering if the beam of my flashlight was giving our six pounds of love stage fright.
“Relevance” matters.
Semi-clever wordplay aside, researchers are starting to catch up to something local newspapers have been telling their customers about since long before programmatic retargeting started ruining folks’ social media experience:
People won’t buy from you if you annoy them.
Municipal elections are going on all over the county right now leading up to Nov. 2, but there is nothing quite like an election in Demorest.
Small-town politics are often entertaining, and they make quite good chatter around the neighborhoods and at the water cooler.
A lot of people don’t know this about me, but I am CRAZY about Monopoly. I absolutely love the game. In fact, I actually collect Monopoly boards.
My favorites include a Londonopoly board, a Dr. Who board, the Millennium edition with plastic money, and my brand new Firefly edition.
It’s not the silly season of political hijinks that we all experienced last year when the presidential election drove the nation bonkers and all of our state offices were turned over to new winners. But the odd-numbered 2021 election still makes a difference in our communities.
I have spent my life watching sports, and I have always bristled at people who say “I am sorry, I don’t follow sports.”
Wait, what?
How do people not follow sports? If I did not follow sports, I’d have no relevant hobbies.
