Finally time to take care of myself

I still remember the voicemail, four years later: I have some bad news. You need surgery. I’m scheduling appointments for you with two surgeons first thing next week … Four years later, I still haven’t had surgery. Next week, that changes.

Thank you, veterans

The biggest faux pas of Memorial Day is when folks try to say “Happy Memorial Day!” Their thoughts at that time of year are on barbecues and a day off from school or work, but the occasion is not a happy one. It is meant to honor those who have died for our country in a somber way.

To the editor: A huge thanks to the Habersham County community for embracing the recent History among the Hemlocks event at the Old Clarkesville Cemetery. Close to 200 people attended one of 12 tours held Oct. 29, 30, 31.
