History of wildlife To the editor: Moving to the beauty of our North Georgia mountains, we all love watching our wildlife and birds off the deck of our mountain home. But sadly most don’t understand the habitat of our wild animals and the danger feeding wildlife brings into our neighborhoods.

Choose safe havens over abandonment

Have you ever heard of Georgia’s safe haven law? This law allows a parent of a newborn to leave a child at a safe haven location – hospital, police or fire station up to 30 days old with no questions asked. First established in Georgia in 2002, the safe haven law was updated in 2017.

The Habersham County Football Hall of Fame Ring of Honor celebrates 20 years in 2019. But what calls for even more celebration are the 100-plus hall-of-famers inducted into the Ring of Honor since it was established in 1999, forever keeping alive their memory in Habersham County.
