The patriotism of NHMS To the Editor: Hello Habersham County, did you know about North Habersham’s Middle School Veterans Program? I am a staff member there, and a retired U.S. Navy Veteran. I attended the program on Nov. 11. I saw behind-the-scenes practice by students and staff members alike.

The importance of your vote To the Editor: When I was a senior at North Habersham High School, I had the privilege to register to vote. I was so excited that, in the fall, I could vote in a presidential election. Since that time, I have exercised my right to vote in every election.

We can do better

Of the 26,374 registered voters in Habersham County, only 3,864 participated in the general/special election held Tuesday. That means more than 85% of the registered voters in our community didn’t take the time to vote. They didn’t perform their most basic civic duty.
