   Who was your favorite teacher?    It’s a question we often ask valedictorians and salutatorians at graduation time, and then we ask them why.    Often, the teachers they select are ones who taught them more than what’s in the text book or the curriculum.

Whistling and wobbling finally led to Hallelujah

   Sometimes you find yourself doing things you never dreamed you would ever do. So was the case late in the evening of Monday, April 14. It was just before bedtime and I was lying face-first on the hardwood floor of our guest bedroom.

Are your eyes closed? To the editor:    The Bible tells us a lot of stories of the past both good and bad. It also tells us that no one is perfect except God’s only son Jesus Christ and that includes everyone, no restrictions. So let’s assume you are making a mistake.

   Some people have links to their websites or interests in their email signature. Often, we ignore those links as we go about our business of responding.    The links in local educator Donna Grant’s email caught my attention last week.

Heller should apologize To the editor:    Joe Heller should apologize to the families of victims of the 21 million illegal alien criminals ushered in by the Biden administration. He might start with Laken Riley’s family. Woodstock, Ga. is not that far away.

The sweet onions have arrived

   In the evenings when we make it home before dark, spending time in the backyard during the waning sunlight of dusk-thirty is my favorite place to be. The white oaks, red oaks, American holly and tulip poplar trees are filled with song this time of year.

Finding joy

   We don’t think we’ve ever been more full of joy to see a local landmark torn down.    The old courthouse eyesore in downtown Clarkesville is finally going.
