A day to remember

   The first week of June brings many celebrations. Sunday was Dare Day, Intergenerational Day and Oscar the Grouch Day among many other things. Monday was National First Ladies Day, National Leave Work Early Day and National Rocky Road (the ice cream) Day.

Be safe on our roads

   School is out, so no matter what the calendar says, it’s summer. With more people on our roads as summer vacations to our area begin, we all need to be more cautious while out and about.    Just this weekend, two local patrol cars were struck by other vehicles.

Are you spending too much? To the editor:    Americans collectively hold $1.18 trillion in credit card debt, reaching a new record high. Nearly half of all Americans are carrying credit card debt, with interest rates averaging over 20 percent.

Honoring the graduate

   What did you do this weekend?    It can be a simple conversation starter, but this weekend was a full one for my family.    The main event, of course, was our middle child’s graduation from Habersham Central.

Don’t dismiss cameras yet

   The Habersham County Parks and Recreation Advisory Board recently discussed the effectiveness and cost of cameras at their facilities. But, the discussion presented issues without looking at the supporting data.
