Respress makes the jump to Anderson University

New era off and running - Mawdesley sets sail as Raiders’ new coach

Last Friday, the Habersham County Board of Education approved the hire of Aric Mawdesley to lead the Raiders’ basketball program.  “We’re awful lucky to get somebody of his stature that can be as good as I think he can be at this late of date,” Raiders Athletic Director Geep Cunningham said.

Raiders eyeing new boys basketball coach

   Pending approval from the Board of Education, Habersham Central has found its new head basketball coach to lead the Raiders’ program.

Irvin honored

Raider baseball alum Peyton Irvin was named to the All-USA South West Division Second Team Thursday. After a solid debut season in 2020, Irvin became one of Piedmont’s most reliable hurlers this season. In 2021, he ranked second on the team in both innings pitched, with 77.1, and wins with eight.
Former Lady Raider Paige Cook was named to the All-SEC Newcomer Team last week. Cook, a sophomore, has started every game this season for Mississippi State and currently ranks fifth on the team with a .272 average. She also leads the team in triples and has three home runs. Former Lady Raider Cook earns All-SEC Newcomer honors

Last week, former Lady Raider and current Mississippi State standout Paige Cook earned postseason award recognition when she was named to the All-SEC Newcomer Team for her performance in 2021.  “I found out at practice right before my hitting group.

TFS track takes 3rd place in state

Tallulah Falls’ men’s track and field team saved its best for the last meet of the year, posting a third place finish at the state meet at McEachern High School last weekend. The third-place finish is TFS’ best team finish in program history.
