The Diamond Raiders suffered their first region loss of the season at Jackson County Wednesday, falling 2-0 in Hoschton. Habersham Central (12-3, 5-1 Region 8-6A) fell victim to strong pitching performances from a pair of Panther hurlers.

The No. 8-ranked Lady Indians secured an overtime win of 2-0 at Barrow Arts and Sciences on Tuesday night. Neither side got anything going in regulation offensively. In the first half of the overtime, LB Kafsky scored off an assist from Iva Ristic for the eventual game-winner.

Raider tennis teams serving up a season to remember

Habersham Central’s tennis teams secured a pair of key region wins at Lanier Thursday. The boys blanked the Longhorns 5-0 while the Lady Raiders pulled out a 3-2 victory. Habersham junior Lije Smith remained perfect (now 14-0) this season with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Lanier No. 1 Justin Park.

TFS rifle team sets new record, takes 2nd in state

An incredible performance by Tallulah Falls on Saturday in Ware County resulted in a state runner-up finish. The Precision Rifle team shot a 2328, 16 points better than the previous school record. Camden County won with a 2338.

Big innings lift Indians to 6th straight win

Being down three runs after the first half inning didn’t deter the No. 4-ranked Indians, who run-ruled West Oak at home Monday in a 16-6 final. Drew Barron got his first varsity action as the starter, and was touched for three runs in his first inning of work.

Ballfields get new infield mix with games starting Monday

The Habersham County Aquatic Baseball and Softball fields, located on Paul Franklin Road behind the Ruby Fulbright Aquatic Center, are now more playable after the rain. The fields recently received new infield mix to improve the playing surface and drainage.

The Lady Raiders took down Apalachee 4-0 on the road Tuesday. Junior Paisley Cathey pulled off her second hat trick of the year to give Habersham more than enough scoreboard cushion to get the job done against the Lady Wildcats. Senior Addi Banks added a goal, too.

Diamond Raiders stay hot, rough up Shiloh

Habersham scored early and often in Saturday afternoon’s 6-0 win over Shiloh. With the win, the Diamond Raiders improved to 10-1 and 3-0 in region play. Sophomore Maverick Chitwood got the start against the Generals (4-7, 0-4 Region 8-6A) on the mound and did not disappoint.
