Raider soccer teams control own destiny

   The Habersham Central soccer teams were at North Forsyth (Cumming) Friday where the Lady Raiders won 3-2 to pick up another key region victory. The Raider boys fell by a narrow 1-0 margin.

Diamond Raiders stay hot, rough up Shiloh

   Habersham scored early and often in Saturday afternoon’s 6-0 win over Shiloh.    With the win, the Diamond Raiders improved to 10-1 and 3-0 in region play.    Sophomore Maverick Chitwood got the start against the Generals (4-7, 0-4 Region 8-6A) on the mound and did not disappoint.

Unbeaten Smith ‘gets the job done’ for Raiders

   There may be no better kept secret in Habersham athletics than Raider tennis standout Lije Smith. Then again, tennis – particularly at the high school level – isn’t traditionally a sport that draws a great deal of outside attention.

Plenty to root for

   Yeah it still gets a little chilly at night, but it feels more like spring with each passing week. Next week’s forecast calls for 5 straight days in the 70s and, more importantly, at least 4 of those carry a sub-50 percent chance of rain.

K9’s bite too much for Elephants

   Konner Burrell just keeps doing his thing for the Diamond Raiders, who shut down Gainesville 1-0 Wednesday to improve to 9-1 overall and 2-0 in region play.    Burrell pitched a complete game gem.

Raiders shut down Gainesville

   The Diamond Raiders opened region play with a commanding 5-0 win over Gainesville behind a stellar performance on the mound by Kade Nicholson.    Nicholson pitched a complete game, allowing just 3 hits while striking out 9.

Springtime shenanigans

   Seeing as it’s that time of year, I’ve spent time recently reflecting on some of my favorite spring break memories.    Growing up in Augusta, spring break was always Masters week, which is typically the first week in April.

Lady Raiders soccer battles Gainesville in key region match

   Habersham Central's girls soccer team earned a sweep of Gainesville on Tuesday night with a 3-1 win.    The Lady Raiders got two goals from Paisley Cathey and one from Addi Banks.    Read more in the weekend edition of The Northeast Georgian.
