Raiders keep state cuts coming at Hot Chocolate

   The Habersham Central Swim team hosted its “Hot Chocolate” invitational last weekend.    The boys and girls teams each finished 4th overall on a day which HCHS’ girls 400 Freestyle relay team consisting of Skye Medley, Sadie Hagel, Ally Dover and Leah Culpepper made its state cut.

   Standout track & field athlete Sam Ketch penned his Letter of Intent with Davidson College, as  the senior is set to continue his athletic and academic career at the next level.    “Getting to compete at the collegiate level has been a dream of mine since I was in middle  school,” Ketch said.

   Coach Bill Bradley and the Lady Raiders began their Region 8-6A campaign on a strong note Wednesday evening in Mt. Airy, downing Shiloh 53-43.    “When you get wins in the region, you’re happy to have them no matter how you get the job done,” said Lady Raiders coach Bill Bradley.

   Robert Carl Williams will forever be a legend in Habersham County sports.    Williams, a member of Habersham Central Football’s inaugural Ring of Honor class, passed away Dec. 28 in Toccoa.

Red-hot Shiloh ‘bullies’ Raiders in first matchup

   Habersham Central’s boys saw their 11-game win streak run out of road as the Raiders fell to Shiloh, 77-59, on Wednesday night.    Once trailing by nine, the Generals (10-3) opened the floodgates coming out of halftime thanks in large part to guard Jullien Cole, who had a monster second half.

   The Habersham Central boys closed out a perfect month of December by passing perhaps its toughest test to date. Behind yet another solid backcourt performance, the Raiders took out Athens Academy, 58-48 to extend its win streak to 11 games.
