Experienced Raiders set to make their pitch

   The Habersham Central boys soccer team began its 2023 season in frustrating fashion. Even as late as the season’s midway point, it seemed like the Raiders were all but eliminated from postseason contention.

Raiders ready to hit the road for stretch run

   Just three days removed from suffering an ugly loss in Mt. Airy, the Habersham Central boys basketball team bounced back in dominant fashion on its home court, blasting Jackson County 75-56 Friday night.

LADY RAIDER WRESTLERS SHINE AGAIN

SUBMITTED    The inaugural season for Habersham Central’s girls wrestling program marches on in successful fashion. The Lady Raider wrestlers placed 8th out of 39 teams at the Gwinnett Games in Norcross over the weekend.

Indians swim well in home meet

   Tallulah Falls hosted the Light in the Mountains Invitational on Saturday. The meet featured senior recognition for both Henry Rickman and Marija Ivanovic, while the former notched a pair of state qualifications and a girls relay team set a school record.

Horns give Raiders trouble

   Habersham Central’s boys were outmatched Tuesday as the Raiders fell to Lanier in Mt. Airy, 64-60.    Following a high-scoring first quarter, HCHS (14-4, 3-2 Region 8-6A) trailed the visiting Longhorns (7-10, 2-3 Region 8-6A) 20-17.

Lady Raiders frozen out by Lanier

   Despite falling behind early, the Lady Raiders were able to keep pace with Lanier much of Tuesday evening. But another poor shooting performance ultimately stymied any efforts of a successful comeback, as Habersham (5-11, 2-3 Region 8-6A) fell to the Lady Longhorns, 46-39.

TFS track star Shirley signs with Berry College

   Julianne Shirley officially signed with Berry College to continue her athletic and academic career beyond her time at Tallulah Falls. The senior State Champion has been an integral part of the track and field program for several years at TFS.

Raiders riding high after two more wins

   It was a busy, but victorious weekend for Habersham Central’s boys’ basketball team. The Raiders played back-to-back games, walloping Apalachee 78-45 Friday night before edging North Forsyth 62-60 Saturday afternoon.

Raiders wrestling teams struggle over long weekend, look forward to individuals

   Habersham Central’s boys and girls wrestling teams hosted East Hall for a duals match Thursday night in Mt. Airy.     The girls match ended with the Lady Raiders on top thanks to pins by Habersham’s Michaela Krippner (115), Natalie Spillers (115) and McKenzie Spradley (125).

Diamond Raiders brave cold to prepare for 2024

   It certainly doesn’t feel like it, but baseball season has officially arrived at Habersham Central.     Amid temps flirting with the freezing mark, the Raiders began their 3-day tryouts Monday in Mt. Airy.
