Lady Raiders split thrilling doubleheader

It was a wild Thursday night on the hardwood for Habersham volleyball. The Lady Raiders beat Lumpkin County (16-25, 25-16, 20-18) in a matinee matchup before dropping the nightcap to Banks County (19-25, 25-22, 13-15). Both matches were thrillers.

Raiders open XC season Habersham Central Cross Country made a trip to Winder Saturday to kick off its season at the Apalachee High School Season Opener 2023. The Hotard twins got their new campaign off to a solid start.

When the Raiders line up against Stephens County this evening, there will be no playoff implications on the line. Nor will the game affect Habersham’s ultimate goal of competing in the Region 8-6A standings. Yet, depending on who you ask, tonight’s game might just transcend all of that. I did ask.

Lady Raiders still hunting a win

The Lady Raiders struggled to keep pace with Hart County on the road as Habersham fell 9-3 to the Lady Bulldogs. Senior pitcher Hannah Odum was again on the mound for the Lady Raiders (0-4), but struggled with walking Hart hitters. Odom walked 5 and allowed 14 hits in her 6-inning outing.

TFS moves rebooted softball program to JV stage for 2023

The softball program at Tallulah Falls began its re-implementation last season. Several girls  came out and participated in a summer camp, practiced, and polished off the season with a  scrimmage.

Habersham Softball found itself unable to find the win column in a tough first week of the season. Following losses to Stephens and White Counties on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively, the Lady Raiders dropped another to the former on Thursday evening.

Following a less than ideal opening night, Habersham Central volleyball righted the ship late last week. The Lady Raiders hit the road to Stephens County where they beat Clarke Central (25-18, 25-19) and Stephens County (25-17, 25-14) in back to back matches Thursday night.

Lady Indians place third in Loganville Christian tourney

Tallulah Falls played five matches in a busy Saturday at Loganville Christian, and finished third  overall in the tournament. Overall, the team went 2-3 in matches played. “We had a good day,” said coach Matt Heyl.
