Despite his success, Rowe ‘just playing golf’

Standing on the 14th tee box Monday, Jack Rowe of Clarkesville knew that to have anything resembling a chance, he’d need to pull off something crazy. Moments earlier. The HCHS had three-putted the 13th and now sat at 2-over par heading into the home stretch.

Former Habersham multi-sport athlete Addie Penick spends a lot of time breaking down the game of basketball. To be fair, she spends a lot of time breaking down all sports. The mental side of the game has always fascinated the Cornelia product.

TFS taps Jiminez as girls soccer coach

The Lady Indians’ soccer team opens a new era with the announcement of Erin Jiminez as its new head coach. Jiminez brings a stellar soccer resume with her, and recently assisted the TFS Middle School team, which went undefeated in 2023.

Piedmont bolsters training staff with two alumnae

Piedmont Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Performance and Athletic Training Dr. Matt McKinney announced the promotion of Brittany Walker to associate head athletic trainer. Walker joined Piedmont’s staff in the spring of 2021 and enters her fourth year in the fall of 2023.

Raider boys finish weekend strong

For a second consecutive weekend, Habersham Boys Basketball was back at LakePoint Sports Complex to partake in a Georgia Basketball Coaches Association showcase event. The event’s 160 participating teams are dispersed into 10 separate brackets with each containing 16 squads.

Raiders get some hits in on the gridiron

A handful of fully suited and booted area squads descended upon Raider Stadium’s turf for full tackle scrimmages on Monday and Tuesday. The camp was pushed back a few days due to northeast Georgia’s prolonged stretch of inclement weather last week.

High school athletes around the country are using summertime to hone their craft. For Habersham Central’s Brad Chosewood, this summer has been especially hot thus far. The rising-senior and Raider Track & Field star has been particularly busy since the beginning of break.

Raider baseball camp a big hit for kids

Raiders flash potential in summer opener

The Habersham Central boys basketball squad was back on the hardwood over the weekend. The Raiders competed in the Georgia Basketball Coaches Association (GBCA) Southeast Regional showcase event at the Lake Point Sports Complex in Emerson.
