My passion for sports dates back to my earliest memories. In fact, I would argue it preceded my ability to form coherent thoughts. Somewhere around age 2 or 3 I reckon. As I grew, so did my affinity for all things Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves. My affinity for weddings?

Raiders hone skills in Athens 7v7

Habersham Central Football participated in UGA’s 7-on-7 team camp this week in Athens. A delegation of Raiders made its way down Highway 441 on Wednesday. That same contingent was back competing for a second session on Thursday. The rules of 7-on-7 are simple.

Habersham hoops teams putting in summer work

These days, nearly all sports could be considered year-round sports. The official slate of games may indeed be seasonal, but for a program to keep pace with the modern demands and advancements of its sport, it’ll need to maintain a 12-month schedule. Basketball is no different.

Kinsey stopping home before next step in pursuit of NFL dreams

Former Habersham Central High School standout and current NFL player Mason Kinsey will hold his “Friday Night Lights” Football Camp on June 23 at Raider Stadium. The event, for campers ages 6-17, will run tentatively from 6-8 p.m.

Peaks and valleys of summer

When faced with an inconvenience, people tend to exaggerate their circumstances. They take a normal, everyday life experience and contort it into some big bad bugaboo. A minor infraction quickly escalates into an irrational reaction. I, at times, am as guilty as they come.

TFS takes fourth in GADA Director’s Cup

Since the 1999-2000 school year, the Georgia Athletic Directors Association has annually presented the Regions Bank Directors Cup, which recognizes those athletic departments in all GHSA classifications who have excelled and shown superior performance.

Nicholson pitching well for Perfect Game squad

Kade Nicholson of Habersham Central baseball has been putting in work so far this summer. The Raiders’ rising senior appeared in a Perfect Game Showcase earlier this week where he pitched three scoreless innings, striking out five and allowing just one hit.

Pickett’s love for game, selflessness help him excel at Duke

Cantrell commits for JUCO hoops in Kansas

Habersham Central graduate and Lady Raider basketball standout Sataria Cantrell has found her next home. Cantrell, who graduated last Friday, committed to Allen Community College in Iola, Kan. over the weekend.
