Raiders eye ‘big opportunity’ in road playoff match tonight

Sports fans see it often – teams get hot at the right time. The Habersham Central boys soccer team exemplifies the expression quite accurately. There was a point, even in the later portion, that the Raiders’ season was all but swirling down the drain. Then they got hot.

TFS tennis teams sweep region titles

For the first time in decades, a Tallulah Falls tennis team has claimed a Region Championship. Both the Lady Indians and Indians defeated Rabun County on Wednesday to earn the Region 8-A DI titles. For the Indians, it marked the first region title since 1977, spanning 46 years.

Lady Raiders look to build on historic season in playoffs

   Habersham Central's girls soccer team fell 5-0 to Lassiter in the first round of the playoffs Thursday.    The Lady Raiders went 15-3 this season and set a bevy of school records.    Read the April 19 midweek edition of The Northeast Georgian to see what's next for the Lady Raiders.

Burrell rode orange and blue to the blue yonder

Matt Burrell has never been one to sit still. At a young age, the Habersham County native dove headfirst into sports. At first it was soccer and that’s only because, at the time, age 9 was the threshold for beginning peewee football.

Rowe carving his name into Habersham golf lore

When Jack Rowe captured the win at last week’s American Junior Golf Association tournament in Tennessee, it was a sense of validation. It may have been Rowe’s first AJGA victory, but according to those in his circle, it was a long time in the making.

Indians soccer set for historic week

The dream season continues for the No. 1-ranked Indians, who secured a relatively easy 6-0 region win at Athens Christian on Thursday to close out the regular season. “It was a very physical match after a 2-hour rain delay,” Indians coach Jeremy Stille said.

Diamond Raiders seek one final playoff push

Habersham Central’s baseball team dipped below .500 for the first time in nearly two months as the Raiders dropped Friday’s game to Gainesville 8-3. The loss marked the end of a rough week for Habersham (13-13, 7-8 Region 8-6A), as the club suffered defeat in each of its three games.

Lady Indians host first-round playoff game

   Tallulah Falls' girls soccer team downed the Trion Lady Bulldogs 3-2 in the first round of the state playoffs Tuesday night with help from two more goals from Addie Higbie, giving her 42 for the season.

The Habersham Central baseball team let one slip away Wednesday night at Raider Park, as Apalachee used a big seventh inning to steal a win from the Raiders. “Obviously this loss hurts as it would have been big to win the series with Apalachee.

TFS’ Mitchell breaks 21-year-old record

Tallulah Falls’ track & field teams competed in an impromptu meet at Mt. Pisgah on Wednesday. Even shorthanded, the Lady Indians finished third and the Indians fourth with only six individuals  each. An original meet slated for Friday was scratched with a bad weather forecast.
