Diamond Raiders look to bounce back tonight

   The Diamond Raiders hosted Apalachee Wednesday and got their crack at avenging Monday’s narrow loss to the Wildcats in Winder. A late comeback attempt came up just short as Habersham fell, 5-4.

Tribe has eyes on bigger goals

   After the Tallulah Falls boys soccer team put a bow on another region title last week, supporters of the club naturally shifted focus towards the rapidly approaching postseason.    For the team itself, however, playoff preparations have been in the works a little bit longer.

‘Filling at a loss’

   Owners of local pharmacies across northeast Georgia say large national conglomerates acting as pharmacy benefit managers – or PBMs – continue to drive them out of business.    PBMs act as third party middlemen between insurance companies and corporate pharmacy chains like CVS and Walgreens.

Clarkesville chief, county HEAT unit leader resign

   Two surprising law enforcement resignations came down in Habersham County to start the week, including longtime Clarkesville Police Chief Brad Barrett, who is stepping down after 23 years in the department and 19 as its leader.

A SOMBER WALK ON GOOD FRIDAY

Clarkesville First Methodist Church hosted a Good Friday event with folks gathering to sing and pray before following a wooden cross through Washington Street in Clarkesville.

TFS boys soccer wraps up back-to-back region championships

   The Tallulah Falls Indians officially clinched their second straight Region Championship with a 4-2 road win Thursday at Elbert County.    Jackson Cording, Kale Borchers, Austin Ball (30th goal), and Jake Wehrstein each scored a goal as No. 2-ranked TFS secured the victory.

Scooting right into the Ring of Honor

   In football, receivers are often remembered by one or two specific plays. Maybe it’s a jaw-dropping acrobatic catch, a game-winning snag against a heated rival or a 60-yard deep ball to lock up some long-held school record.

Kafsky nets 3, helps short-handed Lady Indians win in OT

   Severely short-handed, the No. 8-ranked Lady Indians gave it everything they had with only 12 players, securing a 4-3 overtime win at Elbert County on Thursday.    LB Kafsky notched her first career hat trick, racking up assists by Sarah Lundy, Tessa Foor, and Maddie LeBlanc.

Plenty of golden memories

   When Dennis Cathey was growing up, he never knew a lawyer.    As a senior at Rabun County High School, he was set to attend Georgia Tech and become an engineer, but realized his true interest was law.

Habersham United Way reaches $600K goal

   Habersham County United Way went big this year in hopes of raising $600,000, and they accomplished that goal thanks to local donors and businesses who had a heart to help others.
