Mt. Airy seeks new public works director

Mt. Airy began looking for a new public works director Tuesday after receiving notice that Andy Turner intends to resign in 30 days. Mayor Ray McAllister said Turner was leaving to “pursue his own interests” and that the search for a replacement would begin immediately.

Circle of Hope raises money with style

Members of the community attended a fashion show at Erin London in Clarkesville Sunday afternoon, convening for the cause of raising funds for Circle of Hope, an organization dedicated to aiding victims of domestic violence and abuse.

Deal to receive honorary degree

Highway speeder arrested with multiple drugs

A Stephens County woman was arrested when Habersham County Sheriff’s deputies stopped her on the highway and allegedly found at least three major drugs in her possession. Kathy Lynn Loggins, 52, of Toccoa was driving southbound on Highway 365 around 8:45 p.m.
