‘Battle of the Heroes’ stages triumphant return

The 8th Easton Foundation “Battle of the Heroes” event at Raiders Stadium Saturday featured a first responders flag football game and a “Best in Show” F-1 Ford. “It means a whole lot to me,” said founder and president Casey Lizama.

Gresham won’t run for Clarkesville seat

Councilwoman E. Lane Gresham announced during a Monday work session that she will not be seeking another term on Clarkesville’s city council. Gresham had contemplated a run for Mayor Barrie Aycock’s seat, she said, but decided against staying on the city council altogether.

Baldwin set to hold millage rate

The Baldwin City Council voted Thursday to move forward with the first reading of an ordinance keeping the city’s millage rate at 7.

Fly, Eagle, fly

Joseph McGahee, a student at Tallulah Falls School and third generation Scout, recently received the designation of Eagle after years of dedication to Scouting. The journey that led to where he is today began in the first grade, when he started as a Cub Scout.

Habersham County weathers the storm

Severe storms pummelled Habersham County Tuesday as Tropical Storm Fred moved inland after making landfall on Florida’s coast Monday night. A tornado which was reported to have touched down in Banks County Tuesday morning sparked warnings, flooding and road closures throughout Habersham County.

Tallulah Falls runners eyeing another big year

   The Tallulah Falls cross country season starts Thursday, with the Indians running on principles of sportsmanship and conduct.    This starting point spawns a priority in thanking meet officials and hosts, while also leading the way for younger members to carry on those valued virtues.
