Spring Political Forum on May 19

The Habersham County Farm Bureau Spring Political Forum takes place tonight, May 19 with a  5:30 p.m. start time. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the forum will not be open to the public. However, it will be live streamed through The Northeast Georgian's Facebook page.

Woman rescued from vehicle after running off the road

   A woman drove off the road at Orchard Road and Arrowhead Sunday morning and ended up in the water. She was rescued from the car and flown out to North Georgia Health Center for treatment.    More on the accident in the midweek edition of The Northeast Georgian.

   Hoyt Ausburn was a Republican before it was cool to be one.    Ausburn, who many folks called the grandfather of the Grand Old Party in Habersham County, passed away Sunday at the age of 90.    He served in the U.S.

   The Demorest City Council has decided to cancel portions of its Glorious Fourth of July celebration due to the COVID-19 pandemic since abiding by social distancing would be a challenge with an event that reportedly brings in 10,000 people into the city.

Radcliffe broke the mold on the way to Habersham Central's Ring of Honor

   Chad Radcliffe was a pass-catching tight end before passing was fashionable, and he was a 200-pound track athlete when his fellow runners were far smaller.    Radcliffe rode his exceptional talents to a strong college career and now, a spot in Habersham Central High School’s Ring of Honor.
