Demorest cancels Fourth of July fireworks

   The Demorest Glorious Fourth of July celebration, an event that has been running for over 125 years, has been cancelled for the third time in its history.     The city council approved to push the celebration to a later date in the fall.     “I think adapt is the appropriate word.
The primary election is Tuesday, June 9.

Delayed Election Day finally arrives in Georgia

   Georgia voters finally get a chance to make their voices heard Tuesday when the delayed primary election will be held across the state.    In Habersham County, there are plenty of big decisions to make, including for the next sheriff, who will be the biggest office decided by Tuesday night.

   At its work session Tuesday night, the city of Baldwin announced that it would be reopening to the public on Monday, June 8.     “We’re going to open up city hall Monday to better serve our citizens,” City Administrator Jerry Neace said.

Federal court documents detail Habersham County's response to HR director's EEOC complaint

   A federal judge ruled Friday that Habersham County and its legal team would be granted a four-week extension until June 30 to file an answer to a racial discrimination lawsuit by the county’s Human Resources director.    Vinitha Robinson filed that suit on May 12 in U.S.
