Habersham County pauses for National Day of Prayer

   Despite the unseasonably cool weather, Habersham County citizens of all ages braved the conditions Thursday to gather and participate in the 69th annual National Day of Prayer.     “God’s favor has been on this whole set-up,” said Myrna Fouts, one of the organizers of the event.

Commissioner healing after biking accident

   Dustin Mealor is an experienced mountain biker, but anyone can make a tiny mistake.    The Habersham County Commissioner was biking with some friends May 3 when he took a corner a little too fast.    “My foot hit a boulder and came right out of the socket,” Mealor said Tuesday.

National Guard will return Monday for second attempt on COVID-19 testing at Habersham Home

   The National Guard will come back to Habersham Medical Center’s nursing home at 9 a.m. Monday for a second attempt at testing residents and staff for COVID-19.    National Guard personnel came to Habersham Home on Saturday, May 2, but they were unable to complete the tests.

Chick-fil-A helps lead appreciation for school nutrition workers

   The appreciation kept coming Friday for the nutrition workers at Woodville Elementary.    First it was a care package from the Habersham Retired Educators Association, then it was parents bringing milkshakes, then young kids saying thank you.
