Demorest police chief back on the job officially

The city of Demorest and Police Chief Robin Krockum’s legal counsel have reached a settlement in principle following a three-week debacle after he was terminated April 16 by City Manager Kim Simonds.
Krockum returned back to work as chief Monday after a swearing-in ceremony was held Sunday.

Fieldale reports two deaths as employees battle COVID-19

Fieldale Farms Corp. has reported two employee deaths at their Cornelia Plant according to President Tom Hensley.
Hensley said they were both 60-year-old males.

Habersham County budget needs more trimming to avoid millage rate increase

Habersham County Commissioners have a proposal for a balanced budget in their possession, but it took a lot of squeezing to get there.
After around $2.5 million worth of cuts, County Manager Phil Sutton outlined a possible budget for 2020-21 Monday night with about $70,000 to spare.
