The University of Georgia Carl Vinson Institute of Government (CVIOG), J.W. Fanning Institute for Leadership Development and the New Materials Institute, which respectively competed under the place, talent and innovation categories, collectively received the Judge’s Award at the University Economic Development Association’s Annual Summit. CVIOG received the award, along with the city of Clarkesville, for their work to redevelop the downtown square after a devastating fire in 2014.

City of Cornelia announces property tax increase for residents

The city of Cornelia has tentatively adopted a 2019 millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 0.097%.
This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 8.5 mills, an increase of 0.097 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 8.
