Schools emphasizing safety

The Habersham County School district recognized the importance of safety at schools during their workshop meeting on Thursday as District Safety Director Adam Bagwell presented a safety update to the board. “School safety is the priority across the board,” Bagwell said.

Piedmont University’s annual disaster drill – an elaborate, interdisciplinary training exercise that allows students to collaborate with local public safety agencies – will take place March 23. The scenario: Suspicious packages, possibly bombs, placed on the Demorest campus.

Sheriff's Office unveils new search drone

The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office has upgraded its Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) program with a state-of-the-art drone and new onboard flight technology. The drone, a DJI Mavic 2, comes equipped with visible and thermal imagery through a dual-camera system.
