Habersham maintains GOP stronghold

   Habersham County showed up to the polls on Tuesday overwhelmingly voting for Former President Donald Trump with 19,000 ballots cast in his favor, making up 82 percent of the vote. A little more than 4,000 ballots, about 17 percent of the vote, were cast for Vice President Kamala Harris.

Lehman wins council seat

   Nancy Lehman will be the newest member of Baldwin City Council after gaining 55.24 percent of the vote in Tuesday’s special election, defeating her opponent Mark Mullinax who garnered 44.76 percent of the vote.    Lehman received a total of 569 votes over Mullinax’s 461.

Commission approves animal shelter project

   The Habersham County Board of Commissioners are moving forward with its animal shelter project, but not without some contention at Wednesday night’s special called meeting.

Champions of the arts

   This fall has proven to be a successful season for both Habersham Central’s Band of Blue and Tallulah Falls School’s thespian troupe who both have made major strides in their recent performances.

Murder spurs immigration debate

   The murder of 25-year-old Minelys Zoe Rodriguez-Ramirez of Cornelia last month is stirring the debate on illegal immigration amongst local, state and national leaders after it was found that the alleged killer was not a U.S. citizen.

Officer-involved shooting leaves one man injured

   An officer-involved shooting occurred on Sunday, Nov. 3 near the intersection of Irvin Street and Level Grove Road. One man was shot and injured after an altercation with police authorities.    According to reports from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, at about 5:50 p.m.

Murder suspect here illegally

Missing Cornelia woman found dead

   The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and Habersham County Sheriff’s Office have found what they believe to be the remains of Minelys Zoe Rodriguez-Ramirez of Cornelia who went missing last week, and a suspect has been arrested in her murder.
