Irene Bender: Reboot our recycling

To the editor: It’s time to recycle, and I wonder how many people dread the trip to the center in Clarkesville as I do. The road is full of potholes, the trucks for paper and cardboard are unsafe to walk on and the bin for plastic is the worst.

Jonah’s journey

Jonah’s story of being swallowed by a big fish causes many to be skeptical. As a matter of fact, many view his story like they would view the story of Pinocchio or any other fairy tale. But understand, the amazing events of the Bible are far more than fairy tales.

This is what I did for K.C.’s Valentine surprise: our city hall has a greeting sign and you can sort of rent it for the day with birthday greetings and such. Well, I gave K.C. a Happy Valentine’s day greeting saying he was the love of my life. K.C.

School choice opponents make lots of demonstrably false claims. Some of the flimsiest concern the accessibility of private schools. To hear opponents tell it, private schools are too expensive, too rare outside of urban areas, and downright racist in their admissions standards.

Taxpayers are owed better

After more than four months, we still have no answers regarding the status of Habersham County’s Chief Magistrate Judge Gerald Johnson. Now, as of Monday night, the county has approved a part-time magistrate judge to help out with the caseload that is piling up in his absence.
