Taxes still need some trimming

As the 2022 legislative session nears the finish line, one of the biggest unresolved issues is tax reform. The state House passed a bill that would replace Georgia’s six tax brackets with a single rate of 5.25 percent, down from the current top rate of 5.

No one even filed to run against three Board of Education members and District 2 County Commissioner Dustin Mealor, which on the one hand might indicate that residents think they are doing a good job as it is.

How’s the battle?

Often, through careful observation, things can be discerned regarding the condition of people’s hearts. If you look around, people are walking with their shoulders drooping a bit due to anxiety, despair, and sadness. As of this morning, 3.5 million refugees have fled from Ukraine.

I want to respond to a person who has lived here upon retirement for six years. He is complaining about grocery prices. It is the first time that he has lived in a town with only one grocery store. He refers to an empty store a few blocks away that has been empty the whole time he has been here.
