We need Section 504 To the editor:    For over 40 years I worked as an occupational therapist with public school administrators, teachers and families to ensure there was equal accessibility to education curriculum and instruction for students with identified disabilities.

Fly, Eagle, fly

   He did it.    The Boy Scout is now an Eagle Scout.     Today is Cal’s 18th birthday, and he got his Eagle Board of Review in last week, exactly six months from the day of his father’s death.

Another look

   Last week, like many other school boards are doing across the state, the Habersham County Board of Education decided to opt out of the constitutional amendment introduced as House Bill 581.

Don’t forget this key to long-lasting relationships

   After 57 years of Valentine’s Day celebrations, I’ve learned that there’s one element that must be in the equation of a long-lasting relationship. Humor isn’t the only factor, but I believe that it’s essential in the mix.    For a case in point, let’s go back 30 years.

   Even the biggest hearts can fail to continue beating.    According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women, as well as several racial groups.

Witnessing the win

   Wow.    What an amazing weekend, and it’s all thanks to football.    It started Friday night with the Night to Shine event, where Level Grove was one of 821 churches to host the annual worldwide event.

   It’s awards season in Habersham County.     On Thursday night, we got to watch with joy and pride as the Habersham County Chamber of Commerce celebrated those who made significant contributions to our business community in 2024.

Thankful for sheriff’s department To the editor:    On Jan. 2, vandals broke the doors and windows of our church. An alarm sounded and Habersham County deputies responded quickly and secured the building, making sure that it was safe to enter.
