Giving students access to news literacy

In the past two months, we’ve received and printed a couple of letters to the editor from students in our schools. One was Joanne, a second grader at Cornelia Elementary, and the most recent was David Quintal, a senior at Habersham Central High School.

Expecting the unexpected makes the unexpected expected

One of the great benefits of living on a small farm is the freedom. There’s freedom to work as much or as little as you wish. The catch?  You reap what you sow. And if you maintain a garden or field with any particular crop, you’ll reap what you didn’t sow as well.

The fantastic flip tale

Did you ever use a swing to give you height for some fantastic trick?    My favorite was to try to pump hard enough so the physics would allow me to flip the swing around like a looping roller coaster ride at Six Flags.

Three of President Trump’s promises

Somewhere among my shelves of books is a New York Times best-seller, circa 1987. I helped to make it popular by being one in the masses who purchased the 372 pages about a Big Apple real-estate phenom, Donald J. Trump.

How Trump cuts taxes To the editor:    Trump just cost the taxpayers by firing the DOJ prosecutors that investigated him replacing them with less experienced prosecutors. Remember insurrectionists were found guilty, it wasn’t by the judges, it was the American people.

Defying gravity

It arrived at our house shortly after he died.    The Saquon Barkley jersey.     For those of you who don’t recall from previous columns that filled this space, my husband was a fan of Philadelphia sports.    He visited Clearwater just about every St. Patrick’s Day weekend for Spring Training.
