Support for Jimmy Dean To the editor: I first met Jimmy Dean in the early 1970’s while we were students at the University of Georgia. Both Jimmy and I were working as full time law enforcement officers while pursuing degrees in Education.

This we cannot put aside

We have had to give up a lot during this pandemic, whether it has been our gathering with our church family, or our sports or just meeting freely with loved ones.

Vote more important than ever

It has been well documented that 2020 is unlike any year we have ever seen, and that includes its political campaigns. The presidential nominees were all but decided while we sheltered at home, and local candidates have not had a chance to get out and meet the people as they normally would.

Help is out there To the editor: May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and it is important to me and my family. We take it personally.

Mom was right on this one To the editor: My mother and I had many differences in opinions, especially politics, but I always knew that she was very intelligent and I am fortunate to have learned so much from her. In her last years of life, we spent a great deal of time together.

What my mother meant to me To the editor:  On this another Mother’s Day, I can never forget what my mother meant to me. Growing up on a farm, Mom always worked hard at whatever she did, whether it be on the field, cooking cakes, picking peaches or milking the cows early in the morning.

The people have spoken

Demorest’s odyssey since April 16 has come full circle, as the residents’ pleas were finally heard Tuesday night at the city council’s first successful meeting since March.
