Raiders fall to Stephens again

   For Habersham Central, Friday evening started out about as well as a team could ask for. But as Raider fans know all too well, things can change quickly.    The Raiders wound up falling 28-10 to Stephens County in Toccoa.

I’m glad I met Matthew Osborne

   I’ve always considered myself a sports junkie, or someone who simply can’t get enough sports no matter how much I consume.    This can manifest itself in several different ways.    Some folks obsess over one team, or school. Some people follow sports for the athletes and their stories.

Lady Raiders rattle off perfect week

   Hab volleyball finally got to play on its home floor last Thursday, and the Lady Raiders made the most of it.    Habersham took down Seckinger in straight sets (25-18, 25-14) before topping Gainesville in a thrilling nightcap. (16-25, 26-24, 19-17).    “That was fun,” said Coach Lindsay Herrin.

Raiders, Indians set for showdown

   Two bordering counties will clash Friday in Toccoa for the annual season-opening rivalry game between Stephens County and Habersham Central.    The Indians’ starting lineup will look very similar to what the team trotted out in Mt. Airy a year ago.

Lady Indians open season with split at Lumpkin County

   The Lady Indians traveled to Lumpkin County on Tuesday evening for the season-opening tri-match against the host team and Habersham Central. TFS dropped the first before taking a win to split.    In the opener, Tallulah Falls was edged by Habersham 21-25 and 18-25 in a straight-set loss.

Hab volleyball opens ‘24 home slate

   The Lady Raiders entered the week in search of their first win this season. On Tuesday night they got 2, winning back-to-back matches in straight sets.    Habersham routed Lumpkin County 25-12, 25-12 before taking out Tallulah Falls 25-21, 25-18 in the nightcap.

Meads brings the boot for special teams

   By now, the high school football world knows all too well the importance of having a good kicker on the team.    For Habersham Central, there’s no debating how instrumental kicker Michael Hill was in the Raiders’ 5 wins in 2023.

TFS volleyball tips off ‘24 season

In what marks the biggest roster church in recent program history, the Lady Indians have their work cut out for them. A TFS team that just won the State Championship two seasons ago returns two starters - Rebecca Heyl and Chesney Tanksley.

Raider volleyball back at it this week

Habersham Central’s volleyball team was back in action after press time Tuesday as the Lady Raiders headed to Dahlonega to take on Lumpkin County (2-2) and Tallulah Falls (0- 0) in a tri-match. The matchup with TFS was a rare one.
