Lady Raider volleyball hosts annual All-American Camp

   On the heels of last week’s Future Raider camp, the Habersham Central volleyball program is hosting All-American camp at the school this week.    All-American camps is a service featuring an elite staff of collegiate and professional players that travel to client high schools for camp sessions.

Double Crown ‘feeding’ Habersham’s athletes

   Former Habersham Central football standout Garrett Kinsey and business partner Michael Luckie’s Double Crown Performance opened its doors a little over a year ago right here in Habersham County.

Memories of ’96

   It’s been 28 years – and nearly 7 Olympic cycles – since the Olympic Games came to Atlanta in 1996. Even so, people in the Southeast and from around the country hold tight to memories from that time. In particular, excitement across Georgia and locally was buzzing.

Volleyball just weeks away

   Of all the fall sports in high school, two – volleyball and softball – seem to always get their seasons underway well before the others. The Lady Raider volleyball team officially got to work in preparation for its 2024 campaign this week.

It’s OK to speak up

   I typically like to be witty, sarcastic and even sometimes frivolous when writing columns. Not sure where the habit started, but I approach a lot of things in life with a heavy dose of levity.    This week, I didn’t really have it in me.

Kinsey finds his footing with Titans

   Mason Kinsey was hardly a blip on the radar when he signed with the Tennessee Titans as a rookie free agent in 2020. The Demorest native and Habersham Central alum went undrafted out of Berry College, where he became the first player from the school to ink an NFL contract.

RAIDER GOLF CAMP

   For the second time this summer, a coed group of young golfers descended upon Apple Mountain Golf Course for Habersham Central Golf Camp. Coach Matt Hudlow and current and former Raider golfers are serving as counselors. This week’s staff comprised the Lady Raiders’ No.

Habersham, White share home ties for Piedmont’s Mulligan

   Piedmont’s Silas Mulligan began playing the game of basketball as so many youths in Habersham County do – through the rec department. Driven by seeing his older brother excel athletically, Mulligan then became a great young player in his own right at Cornelia’s Fairview Elementary School.

Lady Raider legend Webb gets called to hoops Hall of Fame

   The main objective of those who pick players for the Habersham Basketball Hall of Fame is to nominate individuals who shined on the court and continue to shine long after their playing days are over.

Wright finding his way in Kentucky

   Former Raider linebacker and Habersham Central graduate Braydon Wright didn’t see any game action for the University of the Cumberlands last season. The soon-to-be sophomore is determined to change that during the Patriots’ 2024 campaign.
