Girls’ run ends in Sweet 16

Habersham Central’s impressive basketball season ran out of magic Friday night, as the Lady Raiders suffered a 51-27 defeat at the hands of the Langston Hughes Panthers in the 6A Sweet 16.

Diamond Raiders make it 6 straight

Habersham Central’s baseball team is clicking on all cylinders during the non-region schedule, as the Raiders racked up their sixth straight win Monday night, 7-0 over Chestatee.

Raider boys eye potential bright future

Habersham Central’s boys basketball program has not been at its most stable over the last decade, but this year’s team showed signs that a culture change has occurred under coach Tommy Yancey. Yancey led the Raiders to a 17-11 season in his first year in Habersham.

Habersham Central’s Lady Raiders muscled their way into the 6A Sweet 16 Tuesday night, riding strong offensive performances en route to a 53-40 win over the visiting Lassiter Trojans.

Indians bounce back with a win

Tallulah Falls’ baseball team played perhaps its best game of the season so far in a 7-2 win at East Jackson on Wednesday night. Playing for a second straight night, TFS was able to come away with the bounce-back win in what proved to be a solid outing in every facet.

Raider boys, girls battle in regional hoops semifinals

   Gainesville’s girls were not going to let Kyia Barrett beat them. Fortunately for Habersham Central, the rest of the Lady Raiders did.    Habersham’s girls rode a shutdown second-half defense and a balanced attack to a 49-32 win over the Lady Elephants to reach the Region 8-6A championship game.

Raiders trounce Jackson County, hope to play on

Habersham Central’s boys basketball program has undergone a lot of changes over the last four years, but Cole Gary and Bryce Pittman have been the steadiest forces over that time.

TFS boys soccer rolls again

Tallulah Falls’ boys soccer team has been unchallenged so far this season, as the Indians netted a third straight win with a familiar 10-0 score. This time the victim was Banks County on a rainy and foggy Thursday night at Tallulah Falls.

   Bryce Pittman was in another dimension Tuesday night, as the Raiders put in late work to knock off Gainesville 76-68 in a wire-to-wire win that put them in the regional semifinals and the state playoffs.
