Raiders grapple to three titles, earn 3rd in Stephens tourney

   Habersham Central was third among nine teams with six placers, 20 wins and 15 pinfalls to show for the Arrowhead Classic at Stephens County High School on Saturday.    "We placed third overall while giving up four weight classes,” Raiders coach Morris Brooks said.

Raiders not leaning on scorching start

Habersham Central’s boys basketball team is off to its best start in 12 years, but first-year coach Tommy Yancey is not ready to throw a parade. “We’ve been winning, but I am not sure we’ve been playing good ball,” Yancey said of his 7-1 Raiders.

Raider wrestlers fall on senior night

The Habersham Central varsity wrestling team fell to the Stephens County Indians 45-34 in an early senior night match Tuesday night. Two forfeits really hurt Habersham as the Indians had wrestlers for every weight class.

Raiders too much for Cedar Shoals

Habersham Central’s boys dominated the opposing Cedar Shoals basketball Tuesday night in a blowout 70-47 win. “We came out with a good energy,” Coach Tommy Yancey said. “We played really good defense in the first half and then established a lead.

Lady Raiders’ defense locks down for a win

After trading wins and losses in their first four games, Habersham Central girls basketball team pushed their record over .500 with a lopsided 49-30 win over Cedar Shoals Tuesday night.

The Habersham Central wrestling team edged out a close victory over North Hall in a non-regional duals match on Tuesday, 40-39, at the Ninth Grade Academy.

TFS boys pull out two thrillers

Tallulah Falls’ boys basketball team needed an extra frame to secure a win over White County, who forced overtime with a buzzer-beating 3-pointer. TFS went on to win 73-66 on Saturday at home.

TFS rifle team sets record in home win

Squaring off with North Gwinnett of Class 7A on Thursday evening at home, the Tallulah Falls Precision Rifle team grabbed both a win and a piece of history. TFS earned a win by outscoring North Gwinnett 1,149-1,133.

Wrestlers shine at Jackson Invitational

Habersham Central’s wrestling team finished sixth out of 24 teams at the Jackson County Panther Invitational on Saturday. Zach Chitwood was on top of the podium in the 106-pound class, while Callum Spivey took second in the 175-pound division.

Lady Raiders fall to White again, bounce back against Stephens

Habersham Central’s Lady Raider basketball team had trouble solving White County for a second time Friday night, falling 40-35 in a rematch from two weeks earlier. The Lady Raiders (2-2) fell for the second time to White County despite leading throughout most of the game.
