Lady Raiders honor seniors with easy win

The Habersham Central girls varsity soccer team swept the winless Apalachee Lady Wildcats in the regular season, following up their road mercy rule victory with a 9-0 home win on senior night Friday. “The game Friday night was fun.

Higbie’s 6-pack routs Elbert

Addie Higbie eclipsed a pair of school records on Thursday night at Elbert County, helping guide the No. 8-ranked Tallulah Falls girls soccer team to an 8-1 win. The region win was a second in a row for TFS. Higbie had a six-goal game, setting a new single-game record.

Turnabout is fair play

Habersham Central’s baseball team flipped the script against Gainesville just 48 hours after suffering an agonizing loss at the hands of the Red Elephants. The Raiders rallied to push across three runs in the top of the seventh inning and held on for a 7-6 win Wednesday night on the road.

Indians keep rolling on the pitch

The Lady Indians found themselves up five goals after the first half, and rode that momentum to a 9-3 final Tuesday evening at Rabun County in a big region matchup. Maddie Mullis got the scoring started with a strike from 25 yards out.

One win, one jumbo-sized heartbreak

The Raiders did nearly everything right Monday night against rival Gainesville, except pull out the win. The Red Elephants staged a seventh-inning rally for a 6-5 win to spoil what was nearly a second signature win in three days for Habersham Central’s resurgent baseball team.

Piedmont women’s swim team wins conference title

The Piedmont University women’s swim team won the Independent South Swimming Conference Championship on Saturday, as head coach Teddy Guyer was named conference Coach of the Year. The Lady Lions also broke a pair of conference records at the meet in addition to 12 school records.

Habersham Central’s baseball team took on an extra game Tuesday that ended their winning streak, but the contest served its purpose. The Raiders (6-4) fell 13-6 to Stony Brook (N.Y.) on their home field after falling behind early to the Bears from Long Island, N.Y.
