Middle School Raiders top No. 1 seed; title game moved to Monday

   The Habersham Raider Middle School football team upset the No. 1 seed Elbert County at the Granite Bowl on Thursday, 7-6, to advance to the championship game Thursday night.    Elbert County was undefeated and Habersham was 3-3 going to the playoff game. Habersham will now play at 5:30 p.m.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapter builds solid foundation

   Habersham Fellowship of Christian Athletes is off to a fantastic start, as the organization exceeded its fundraising goal for its first year of existence.    FCA reached this milestone at its Night of Champions, the organization’s largest fundraiser of the year, at The Torch on Sunday night.

District 50 Senate race passes $600K in spending

   The race to supplant Sen. John Wilkinson in Georgia Senate District 50 has seen $592,394.50 spent by seven candidates who have sought the position, with more to come before Nov. 3.    Republican nominee Bo Hatchett of Habersham County has spent $183,039.

Wolf Creek BBQ fire destroys restaurant

   Cornelia Fire Department and other agencies responded to a structure fire at Wolf Creek BBQ in Cornelia early Friday morning. City Fire Chief Billy Joe Jenkins reported no injuries but the building was a total loss.

OSBORNE: Raiders could benefit from some 'grown-man runs'

   Azzi Cervantes never suited up once for rec football as a young boy. He never played in middle school or junior varsity.    But suddenly the Habersham Central junior is making plays on both sides of the ball for the varsity Raiders.

Tallulah Falls girls roll into the Sweet 16

   Tallulah Falls’ volleyball team punched its ticket to a second Sweet 16 appearance in three years Wednesday night with a sweep over Mount Vernon.     “I knew watching film that both teams were really similar and this could have gone five sets,” TFS head coach Matt Heyl said.

Habersham Medical Center gets $19M in CARES funding

   Habersham Medical Center CEO Tyler Williams confirmed that the hospital has received roughly $19.4 million in CARES Act funding as of Wednesday.
