U.S. Forest Service Habersham County responders against historic wildfires

   As the wildfires continue to consume many areas in the west coast, U.S. Forest Service personnel from all over are traveling to help provide resources and support.     The U.S.

War Memorial discussion still tense, unresolved

Baldwin annexation, development likely to go unchecked after agreement falls apart

   Facing fourth-and-long in an annexation dispute with the city of Baldwin, Habersham County’s Board of Commissioners punted Monday on an arbitration agreement that would have lessened the impact of the proposed development on the neighboring community near Wilbanks and Thompson streets.

Child rescued, alleged abductor still wanted

   A local man is wanted by Clarkesville Police after allegedly abducting his 18-month-old son late Friday night.    Warrants have been issued for Charles Eric Chambers, 47, of Cleveland, who allegedly entered the home of his child’s mother around midnight Friday in Clarkesville.

Ivester’s legacy lives on in community, region

   Dr. Mark Ivester, was remembered by many as a leader in education, devoted Christian and passionate Georgia Bulldog fan.    Several members of the community fondly recalled his concerted involvement in economic development as North Georgia Technical College’s president. Ivester died on Sept.

Elger resigns from Habersham County Board of Education

   Outspoken Board of Education member John Elger resigned effective Sept. 30 following weeks of controversial public positions on the restart of schools and the policy regarding political displays on school property.
